Like so much else about our society in these challenging days of Covid-19, Memorial Day celebrations in 2020 will no doubt be cut short from the usual practices. There will be no Indy 500 with the solemn pre-race tapping in honor of our American war dead. Some cemeteries may be decorated with American flags over the graves of veterans, but probably not as much as in years past. Churches that choose to pay tribute to those who gave the last full measure will likely do so via video conference. Social media will have its Memorial Day moment, to be sure, most of them well-intentioned and sincere, some as bland and irrelevant as those who post them.

In any case, who could have foreseen that during the spring of 2020, more Americans would be claimed by the coronavirus in these few weeks than were killed in action in Vietnam in more than a decade? It is a distressing situation, this vicious disease, fraught with uncertainty and fear and, for some, utter despair. It is a challenge that will demand the best of us, from the patience and determination of our citizens and trained first responders to leadership at all levels of government. The creativity and flexibility of our free enterprise system will also be critical in the coming months, as it was during World War II.

It is not a cliché to say that our current situation is yet another in a long list of crises this nation has faced. Because it is. Progress may be slower and less linear than we’d prefer, and the toll on lives will continue, but we’ll get through it somehow, we always do.

So is there a connection between our war dead and the current crisis?

Yes, for sure.

More than a million members of the US military have been killed in action in this nation’s wars. They are buried throughout the United States and in foreign cemeteries, especially in Europe. They were from small towns and big cities. Some had wealth and privilege while many others had very little. Some had worked on farms or in factories or had been public school students or teachers. Some were married while others had just begun to shave. Some were seasoned military professionals, while others were upset about the Boston Massacre or Fort Sumter or Pearl Harbor or 9/11, and wanted to strike back. Most, however, intended to do their part in uniform to the best of their ability and then go home.

These are different times, even beyond the Covid-19 pandemic. Less than one percent of the US population is serving in the military. Therefore, most American families have little or no connection to the military. Many of those family members have never even had a friendship with someone who is serving or has served in uniform. There is a disconnect that creates a social divide as military men and women serve and sometimes die while the nation at large barely notices. The burden falls on the precious few, and it is a heavier burden. Several universities have created safe spaces on campus where the snowflake students in their midst can avoid being offended by the “microaggression” of a sideways glance. Don’t look for them on Parris Island any time soon. Different times, actually.

Let’s go back to the connection between our war dead and the current crisis. What is?

Well, it’s in the fact that many of us feel like we’re facing real life-or-death circumstances for perhaps the first time in our lives. And it’s not nice. Our war dead faced those feelings, albeit much more intensely, in the dangerous existence they found.

It is in feeling the temporary loss of personal freedom either by edict or by a penchant for self-preservation, or both. And few of us like it, temporary or not. On a larger level, the idea of freedom was important to our war dead, so they were willing to die to ensure their survival. Truth be told, more than a million did.

And it’s in knowing that, in the end, so aptly described in James 4:14, “You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.” Our war dead understood perhaps more deeply than anyone how fragile and fleeting human life is. And how small (and sometimes helpless) we really are in the workings of the world.

So think of them this weekend, our American war dead. We are connected, whether we realize it or not, as fellow citizens, as human beings. They deserve a place in our collective memory. They deserve our respect and admiration.

For the most part, however, they deserve our eternal gratitude.

Like all sports, horseback riding can provide a great deal of fun and exercise. Within the equestrian world there are endless different sports. So no matter if you’re a weekend pleasure rider or a serious competitor, a thrill seeker or an edgy Nelly, there’s something for just about everyone.

Generally speaking, equestrian sports are divided into categories. There is western riding, Olympic disciplines, endurance, pleasure riding, novelty, horse racing, rodeos, team sports, and carriage driving. Of course, there are also some obscure sports like show jumping, le trek, and camp drafting. Within these categories there are a variety of different sports again.

Western riding originated in America in the early days of the frontier; horses were the only way to herd and grade cattle. It is best known for the sports of cutting, reining, and western pleasure. Appaloosas, Quarter horses and paints are the main breeds used in Westerns.

Olympic disciplines include the art of dressage, show jumping and eventing. These had their beginnings in military warfare as a way to train both horse and rider to become agile and adept at helping defeat enemies on the battlefield. Over the years, a variety of breeds have been popular for these sports. Today, the Warmblood is the breed of choice.

Endurance driving is long-distance racing under controlled conditions. Arabians and Arabian derivatives are the most widely used breed in this discipline due to their resistance. The sport of drag racing was invented as a military test for cavalry mounts, where horses had to race 300 miles (485 km) over 5 days while weighing around 200 lb (100 kg).

Novel riding includes mounted games and racing, most popular at the pony club level. Many games involve horse and rider racing against the clock to win a course. The best known of the novelty riding sports is probably barrel racing, often seen at rodeos. A variety of breeds are used for these, with ponies being very popular.

Rodeo riding involves a variety of sports, including team roping, bronco riding, barrel racing, and break roping. In Australia, rodeos usually also include a day of essay competition at camp. Like western riding, camp drafting had its origins in Australia, probably around 1880 to 1890, and involves cutting a cow or steer out of a herd at a “camp”, then driving the beast around a course. in the form of a cloverleaf. The Australian Stock Horse is the prominent breed used for this sport, although Quarter Horses also do well.

Winning football pools on a regular basis seems like a dream (or pure fantasy) for many people. However, it can be done, if you have a system. How can you work the odds? It is a question that many people ask themselves!

Let’s look at the basic probabilities. With a coupon of 49 matches (games), we seek to identify a winning line of 8 point draws in the British triple odds groups if we want to win a 1st dividend (a point draw or SD is a result where both teams finish top with the same number of goals, not zero). If we bet only on 1 line (no one does, but let’s put that aside for now), then the odds of selecting the correct 8 matches out of 49 are roughly 450 million to 1. With the UK lottery, the odds are 14 million to 1 for a six number combination, by comparison.

If we bet 45,000 lines in one entry, that brings the odds down (on a purely random basis) to around 10,000 to 1. That’s getting a lot better. Now, there are complications. There will not always be 8 SD results on a given coupon, and sometimes there can be as many as 15 or even more. During the latter part of 2009, the number of tied games (both SD and no-score draw) ranged from 12% (1 no-score and 5 score-ties) to 38% (5 no-score and 13 SD) of the coupon. The maximum number of draws during that 12-week period was 14. Please see the attached chart.

Take for example a week where there are 13 ties. With 13 such draws, there are 1,287 possible combinations of the 8 required for a 1st Dividend. This helps our odds considerably: 10,000 to 1 becomes 7.77 to 1 (well, 8 to 1 for simplicity). That’s with a random selection of our 45,000 lines.

Now, let’s assume that football teams play fit (not always or consistently true), but let’s say we can predict tie games with 60% accuracy within our teams. This means we have a 20% higher chance (10% margin above the 50% random). So the odds of 8 to 1 now become 6.4 to 1 (or 13/2 if we were betting on horses). There are other ways to sharpen the odds in our favor, and much more to work on a system, but I hope this article gave you an idea!

Thanks for your visit. You are reading this because you just got a new toy breed puppy or are planning to get a new toy breed puppy. Well, you came to the right place. These small dog breeds need special attention and care when they are puppies. In this article, you’ll get detailed instructions on just about everything you need to know to make sure your miniature breed dog stays healthy, along with tips on potty training. Please note that this article was not written by a veterinarian. The information in this article is my opinion, which comes from years of personal research and experience dealing specifically with miniature breed dogs. Always consult a veterinarian for any questions about your dog.

We personally own Yorkshire Terriers (Yorkies), and have gained a great deal of experience dealing with this fantastic breed. Below is our sweetheart, “Munchkin,” weighing just 1.5 pounds and over a year old. Despite his weight, he is as healthy as can be.

The following information can refer to any miniature breed dog. There are countless joys in owning these little boys and girls, however toy breeds need special attention during the young stages of their life. By young, we mean the 8 weeks to the year. If you have come across a breeder who sells puppies before 8 weeks, GO! Small breed dogs must stay with their mothers for AT LEAST 8 weeks. However, a pup can leave its mothers at around 10-12 weeks. You can read more about choosing the right toy dog breeder here.

hypoglycemia

The most important condition to be aware of when you first welcome your puppy is known as hypoglycemia. This condition appears most often in toy breed dogs like Yorkies, Maltese, Pomeranian, Chihuahua, etc. According to the US National Laboratory of Medicine, hypoglycemia is a sudden drop in the concentration of glucose (sugar) in the blood below normal levels. Although it is most commonly seen in puppies between 5 and 16 weeks of age, adult dogs can have this problem if they are not cared for properly. This condition occurs more often in smaller dogs due to the lack of muscle mass of “teacup” dogs. Less muscle mass equates to a harder time storing glucose, making the toy dog breed more susceptible to hypoglycemia.

Your puppy’s body uses glucose as its main source of energy. As long as your puppy eats regularly (see feeding section below), his glucose levels should remain stable. However, certain events can accelerate the onset of hypoglycemia, such as stress, low body temperature, poor nutrition, changing foods, and infections. (Please read below on how to help your pup adjust to his new environment.) Signs of hypoglycemia include sluggishness, lethargy, drowsiness, staggering, chills, depression, and, in severe cases, a coma-like state. One of the best methods to control hypoglycemia is to feel the gums. A healthy puppy’s gums will feel warm and have a nice pink color. If your pup’s gums feel cold and look white, your pup could be experiencing hypoglycemia.

If you notice any of the symptoms listed above, immediately feed them a high-sugar supplement like Karo Syrup, Nutra-Cal, or Nutri-Stat. Karo syrup can be found at most grocery stores and the other two supplements at most pet stores. Since Karo syrup is mainly made up of glucose, this would be the preferred supplement to treat hypoglycemia. Just put some Karo syrup on the tip of your finger and let the pup lick it off. Sometimes a puppy will refuse to lick the syrup off your finger. In this case, gently open the puppy’s mouth and scrape the syrup from the back of the front teeth and allow the puppy to swallow. Repeat the process a couple of times until the gums return to normal or until the previous symptoms have disappeared. Most puppies can recover from mild hypoglycemia in 10 to 20 minutes. In severe cases where your pup appears to be slipping into a coma, take him immediately to the local animal hospital while a passenger force-feeds him Karo syrup on his way there.

In general, severe and non-severe cases of hypoglycemia can be prevented by:

1. Pay close attention to your puppy

2. Adequate nutrition

3.Rest

We recommend checking their gums every few hours just to make sure your little one stays healthy. If you work during the day, come back at lunchtime or as often as you can to check on your pup’s health. The next section will discuss methods to help a puppy adjust to a new environment to help alleviate rapid onset hypoglycemia.

The First Days After Bringing Your Puppy Home

When you first bring your new puppy home, he may experience some nervousness in his new surroundings. Everything from new sights, smells, and people can be peculiar to your new puppy. It should allow them to explore their new surroundings and encourage them to play. Speaking quietly and calmly can help alleviate some of the nervousness and accommodate it to your voice. With a little patience, your new puppy will soon get used to his new surroundings and enjoy his new home.

Buying a playpen will come in handy at night and at times when you can’t keep a good eye on your dog. Keeping your puppy in a playpen isn’t cruel; it just keeps them out of trouble when you can’t keep an eye on your dog properly. Remember, puppies can cause mischief faster than you can blink!

A good size playpen for toy breed puppies is about 3′ x 5′. Even a slightly smaller size playground will suffice. The point is to give your new puppy a nice place to sleep and play, along with a potty area. If it is larger, your pup may confuse where it sleeps and where it uses the bathroom. A small dog bed along with some soft baby blankets will work well for a sleeping and playing area. Also give your new pup some stuffed toys specifically for small dogs to play with. On the opposite side of the playpen, place a puppy potty pad or a few pieces of newspaper for them to take care of pottying. It is important to keep the bathroom area as far away from the sleeping and playing area as possible. This helps them discern where to sleep and where to go to the bathroom. A nice gadget to go along with puppy potty pads is a potty pad holder. These work great to keep newspapers and pee pads from getting shredded.

At bedtime, your puppy will be used to sleeping with his brothers and sisters. The suddenness of falling asleep can only invoke a feeling of loneliness that makes them cry for the first few nights. When your pup yells, simply touch his nose and say “no” in a gentle but stern voice. Many people make the mistake of running to hug their puppy as soon as they hear a cry. However, you are actually letting them know that crying gets them what they want. In this situation, your new pup is training YOU!

March was a tough month for famed dynamic tennis duo, sisters Serena and Venus Williams. Through the death of a loved and injured relative at court, the queens of the court have remained united and continue to represent a close sisterly bond.

On March 23, Crips gang member Robert Maxfield pleaded no contest to the 2003 shooting of the pros’ sister, Yetunde Price. Price was sitting in a vehicle with her boyfriend when Maxfield took his own life, allegedly believing the car was containing members of a rival gang.

Physically, both had to put their love of the game aside due to injuries sustained on the pitch.
A sprained ligament forced Venus to withdraw from the Nasdaq 100 Open in Florida in late March, while Serena Williams withdrew from the Nasdaq Open in Miami due to a knee injury.

While times are tough, sisters shouldn’t throw in the towel. The duo has become a unique element for success. They have won 11 major singles titles between them.

In 1999, they became the first sisters to win a Grand Slam crown together in the 20th century by winning the French Open doubles title; and for playing together in the 2001 US Open final, history marked by being the first sisters to have reached the final of a Grand Slam tournament. The sisters are also not a shadow in the Hollywood spotlight. They filmed their reality show Venus and Serena: For Real in 2005.

Martial arts have always been shrouded in mystique. This can often lead to students abandoning the martial arts in search of the truth or becoming disillusioned. Very occasionally someone comes along, say an instructor, who is willing to peel back the cloak of secrecy from the inquisitive student and show him the way.

Sen-Shin means, (clear your mind) practice karate strongly and systematically. I’m sure you’ve heard the words don’t ask questions keep training and all will be revealed to you in time. In other words, you are not allowed to question what you are doing or why you are doing it. Of course not in all cases but in many that have Japanese instructors it is endemic, or as tradition likes to say, you don’t question the teacher, you just do what he tells you. However, when you practice in the dojo it is the opportunity and the place to empty your mind and a place to train your body.

soft must follow hard

The more you can free your mind, the more you can learn. Remember Sen-Shin. An example of this is the Chinese practice of Qigong pronounced Chi-Kung. It is an ancient Chinese discipline that combines mental concentration, breathing technique and body movements to activate and cultivate your vital energy as it flows through the invisible channels of the body.

Additionally, Qigong teaches you to use your mind, body, and spirit together to unblock energy and balance Yin and Yang energy in the body. Qigong is a simple and powerful form of exercise that is practiced in China and around the world. Anyone can immediately benefit from his practice. Qigong exercises teach the basic idea of using consciousness to go into emptiness. It is a state of pure energy where you are one with the universe.

For example, when you sleep, you feel relaxed and at peace, you take your mind and body into emptiness, and we all do this automatic meditation without realizing it during sleep and periods of deep relaxation. When practicing Qigong we go into the void where we balance Yin and Yang, the feminine and masculine energy. Many teachers will tell you that the most powerful techniques are often the simplest. What this means is that many of the techniques taught in dojos around the world today are overly complicated, for example some kata with their applications (Bunkai) shrouded in mystery. In their fundamental form, Karate and Qigong exercises are very simple. No need to learn complicated secret moves or ‘um’, especially when it comes to self-defense, where a simpler approach has been proven time and time again to work better.

Masters of martial arts already know that mental power is more powerful than physical, because without the mental capacity and the ability to be able to turn your aggression on and off as you see fit, you will not defeat your enemy (attacker), even even if you are big and strong but without attitude the will to win (mental power). In short, if your opponent has more than you, guess what, you will be defeated. You have to cultivate within yourself through regular training the hard (external) and soft (internal) techniques that result in the overwhelming will to prevail no matter what. It’s that easy.

Practice every day and reap the reward

From my point of view, martial arts have a destination but many routes to get there. There are also many styles and schools of karate and other martial arts disciplines.

In many, however, their goal of building internal strength remains central to all. Therefore, in its soft training it must follow hard because it offers a method of training the nervous system, the mind and the internal organs simultaneously so that the inner strength of the whole person rises to a new level of power and fitness. For centuries, this knowledge was only passed down within families or a small circle of chosen teachers or students and was kept relatively secret. It is only recently that it has been taught and discussed.

Following this maxim, martial arts students through the development of extraordinary internal and physical powers have enabled practitioners to break bricks and stones with their bare hands. Qigong (Chi Kung) literally means energy exercise, and it is a gentle form of movement exercise, you are like an angry tiger in silence, you are like a sleeping dragon. You just have to be patient enough to figure it out.

In China, early morning draws people from all walks of life and of all ages to start their day by performing traditional exercises in parks and forests wherever they live. They can be seen doing stretching movements, others are training in various martial arts, Tai-Chi or Chi-kung, the slow, gentle exercise that develops and relaxes the entire body. Amid all these moving forms, practitioners are completely focused on deep inner growth. As stated above, for centuries the art was a closely guarded secret that encompassed all soft and hard martial arts training. It could be said that it is the hidden treasure of Karate.

‘The successful warrior is the average man/woman with laser-like focus’

Baseball may be the biggest sport where, if you’re not in the game mentally, you might as well sit on the sidelines. Since over the years stats have developed and players can be judged on paper, many ignore it while others want to check and see if they are producing good numbers beyond average and home runs.

Joey Votto is a player who stands out and cares about his OBP and over the years it has certainly increased. In 131 games in 2009 (his rookie season), he had an OBP of .414. By 2012, he was up to .474 in 111 games. Recently, Votto’s teammate Brandon Phillips spoke with USA Today and said of the stat:

“I don’t do that percentage based on MLB Network (stuff),” Phillips told USA TODAY Sports. “I think that’s screwing up baseball. I think people now are just worried about getting paid and worrying about on-base percentage instead of just winning the game.”

Without digging too deep, you can see that Phillips just doesn’t care about any more stats than we usually see on most TV games. While he’s entitled to his opinion, most would agree with a teammate who cares about this number, it didn’t make Joey Votto look good as his point of view on OBP is on the other side. .

Now, whether or not you care about OBP is an important number, it’s one of the easiest things to compare to Zen Buddhism. In our daily lives, we are in a hurry to get things done, we have time to relax, and then we feel like we will have another long day before we finally get the job done. I know every morning when I have to get ready and check the schedule, I have to take a breath and not get the common saying: “This is going to be a long day.”

In pressure at-bats for players, especially when you’re down one, in the ninth inning, I couldn’t imagine having the patience as the pitcher or the batter thinking, you need a strikeout or a home run to finish. the game. While I’m not always the biggest fan of goofy quotes when it comes to religion or philosophy, one of my favorites from the Buddha is this:

“You cannot walk the path until you have become the path itself.”

While it might be silly to think that this quote has anything to do with baseball. The mindset during each at-bat can be ahead of schedule and constantly think about batting anyway to get on base. It certainly can look good on Brandon Phillips when he throws the ball for a single, but when you walk, it’s the same. So while I think Joey Votto would love to hit a home run every at-bat like any player in the game, I think he’s more realistic to the fact that in order to score runs, you have to get on base, even if you’re not the hero that get the RBI.

The game is certainly more complicated if we think that Votto’s best OBP year was his best year. But it’s all a balancing act, as one can easily point out that Votto’s OBP was excellent, but his 14 HR and 59 RBI in 2012 just don’t get the job done at the cleanup position. So everything is a balancing act and it can’t be perfect. So understanding the fact that a day of anger will soon be followed by a day of happiness is difficult, we would all like it to be balanced, but it will not be perfect.

Having that understanding both in the game of baseball and in life is something we all strive for. So, in the year 2015, let’s see what the champion moods and stats are and see if it somehow balances out. The quiet Madison Bumgarner pulled out a historic game to end the 2014 season. And she’d bet her patience in the ninth inning after Alex Gordon reached third base was the reason they won it all.

That sound you hear is nothing more than NBA teams hitting the hardwood as training camps prepare to open. It’s been a wild summer at The Association, as most of it has been tied to LeBron James and his new gang in South Beach with a continued shift of power to the Eastern Conference. But King James may find it gets even more crowded in the East if Carmelo Anthony has his way.

In late August, Melo began to spread rumors that he wanted out of Denver. With one year remaining on his contract, Anthony was interested in a three-year, $65 million extension. He just wasn’t interested in him coming over from the Nuggets. The team has begun to explore a number of trade options, hoping to gain some young players in return. That desire has affected the New York Knicks’ chances of landing Melo, but it has kept the other three rumored suitors (Houston, Chicago and New Jersey) heavily in the mix.

For now, any news that Anthony has changed addresses has been kept under wraps. But that hasn’t stopped people from asking. The Denver Post asked La La Vasquez, Anthony’s new wife, about her husband’s plans while he promoted his new reality show.

“I find myself trying to stay away from speculation,” she told The Post. “She’s been with those guys for seven years and she’s played her heart out.”

Melo himself has been fairly low-key on the subject, telling his Twitter followers: “When I know something, you guys will know something. #blankdot.” At the moment he’s still a Denver Nugget, but it only seems to be a question of when he gets traded, not if. With two of the three contenders in the East, a trade to the Right Coast could make the battle for the top half of the conference very interesting.

Land Anthony in Chicago and the Bulls will quickly become the NBA’s picks to click, replacing the Cavaliers as the Central Division’s rulers. Combine that with a healthy Devin Harris and an emerging Brook Lopez in New Jersey and they could be the second-best team in the Atlantic Division behind the Celtics.

Meanwhile, training camp opens next week and it seems almost certain that Melo will be on Denver’s roster. Keep your eyes open. This story will continue to unfold and will have a huge impact on the season.

What an absolutely crazy first few weeks it has been in the NFL. Seventeen teams, 17!!!, are still over .500. And it’s crazy how one week a team (say, the Giants) can look like total shit and then the next week go out and smoke a top-five team like the Falcons. Powerhouses like the Bengals losing to junk teams like the Buccaneers and surprises like the Saints are making this season something to watch. It is almost impossible to know who will be left standing at the end of the year.

Especially after the Bears-Cardinals game on Monday night. Chicago has seemed by far the best team in the NFL. The offense was racking up points, the defense was shutting down teams and seemed to be playing with a lot of consistency. Then Arizona, the scum of a team, catches them at home and blows their doors off. But, in the blink of an eye, two lucky defensive plays, a special teams touchdown and a missed Neil Rackers FG later, the Bears remain undefeated.

What Monday night’s game showed me is that the Bears are not invincible. In fact, they may not be as good as we all thought. They have played most of their games at home and have yet to face a tough challenge on the road. Rex Grossman and Bernard Berrian have yet to show what they can do against a good defense on the road. I’m not sold. They stay at number 1 though.

This week’s big movers, the Carolina Panthers, move up nine spots to No. 5, while the Falcons drop 11 spots to No. 16. Meanwhile, the Birds’ second tough loss of the season knocks them out of the top 5. , but not top 10. Not yet, anyway.

Now… to the classification…

(1) Chicago Bears (5-0) – They escaped the desert by the skin of their teeth, in one of the strangest games I’ve ever seen. For your quarterback to turn the ball over six times and come back from 20 points down in the second half without an offensive touchdown is just unbelievable.

(2) Indianapolis Colts (5-0) – Their trade for DT Booger McFarland from the Bucs should help that running defense, which has been the Colts’ Achilles’ heel so far in 2006. However, they paid a high price. price by giving up a second-round pick. We’ll see if choosing a Booger works for Indy.

4) San Diego Chargers (4-1) – The Colts are higher because they’re undefeated, but for my money, the Chargers are the best team in the AFC, if not the NFL. Of course, Schottenheimer will find a way to sabotage his Super Bowl chances, but we’re still at least a couple of months away from that. Philip Rivers is real.

(9) Seattle Seahawks (4-1) – It hasn’t been pretty for the Hawks this season, with Shaun Alexander’s foot injury and the loss of Steve Hutchinson drastically affecting the running game. However, last Sunday’s monstrous comeback in St. Louis, with the division lead on the line, was monstrous. Seattle needed that game.

(14) Carolina Panthers (4-2) – Since Steve Smith returned to the lineup, the Panthers are 4-0. It’s hard to believe a wide receiver could make such a difference, but facts are facts. That was also an impressive performance from Jake Delhomme in Baltimore on Sunday.

(7) New England Patriots (4-1) – The Pats lose a bye week spot amid rumors of a possible trade for disgruntled WR Randy Moss from the Raiders. It didn’t happen. Can you imagine Moss and Belichek coexisting? Talk about oil and vinegar. Of course, Tom Brady still has no one to pitch to.

(10) Denver Broncos (4-1) – I hate their offense and I think Jake Plummer is a terrible quarterback. But his defense has convinced me to finally turn them up a notch. Just one touchdown in the first five games of the season? It has never been done before.

(8) Jacksonville Jaguars (3-2) – These guys may be rated too high right now, I realize that. They’re a very lopsided team, you just don’t know what you’re going to get from these guys. But I feel like this team is ready to really start clicking on offense. Once that happens, be careful.

(12) New Orleans Saints (5-1) – I don’t think they’re any more talented than the Eagles, but they definitely showed they’re real on Sunday. After the Birds completely stole New Orleans’ momentum early in the quarter, the Saints took it back and dominated the entire fourth quarter. An impressive victory for a quality team.

(3) Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) – Yeah, they should be 6-0 but they’re not. Frankly, the defense hasn’t been good enough for this team to be undefeated. And we can talk about all the mental breakdowns and talent level all we want. But until this team is able to tacitly commit to the running game and stop the big play at D, they will continue to beat themselves.

(6) Cincinnati Bengals (3-2) – What’s going on in Cincinnati? Maybe all the police activity has caused these guys to lose focus, but there is no way, NO WAY, a Super Bowl contender should lose to a winless team, I don’t care where they are. These guys have had their ups and downs all year and they better get it fixed soon.

(11) St. Louis Rams (4-2) – Despite losing a big division game at home to the Seahawks, they were pretty impressive on Sunday. It was quite a fight between Hasslebeck and Bulger. Unfortunately, the Hawks got the ball last and scored on a monster FG as time expired. But the Rams look real, too, as long as Bulger keeps playing football without making mistakes.

(16) Dallas Cowboys (3-2) – One question … do you think Bill Parcells is happy or upset that Terrell Owens caught three touchdown passes on Sunday? It’s an absolute zoo in Dallas, with a fight between Owens and his receiving coach, rumors of fines or suspensions that never happened, and reports of serious friction between Owens, Jones and Parcells. Oh!

(17) New York Giants (3-2) – Despite an impressive win over the Falcons on Sunday, I can’t rate these guys any higher, not until I see them more regularly. This team, along with the Redskins, are two of the most impressive teams in the NFL. Some weeks look like Super Bowl contenders, other weeks look like crap. I have no idea what the Giants are, so I’ll just leave you here in the middle of the group until I figure it out.

(13) Baltimore Ravens (4-2) – Again, another team with a very good defense but serious problems on offense. The solution? Fire Jim Fassel. I have no idea if this is going to help anything, and the bye week should give Steve McNair time to get ready after his concussion on Sunday. But the offense was failing even with McNair there, and Brian Billick thinks he’s the solution. We’ll see.

(5) Atlanta Falcons (3-2) – I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You stop Mike Vick from running and shut down Warrick Dunn, you beat the Falcons. It is not a difficult formula. Kudos to the Giants for once again showing us how it’s done.

(15) Minnesota Vikings (3-2) – It’s becoming increasingly clear that no one is going to catch the Bears up north, so the Vikes need to turn their attention to the wild card. The bad news is that there are many times over talented people who seem to have the inside track.

(20) Pittsburgh Steelers (2-3) – Finally, the Steelers looked like the Steelers of old. The extra bye week seemed to do Ben Roethlisburger a lot of good, Willie Parker showed that flash that makes him special, and Hines Ward found the end zone. They still have a long way to go, but the Stillers aren’t dead yet.

(22) New York Jets (3-3) – Looks like an 8-8 team to me. They have no running game at all, you just don’t know what you’re going to get from Chad Pennington from week to week, but they have a bad enough schedule to allow them to beat some of the dumbest teams in the NFL.

(18) Kansas City Chiefs (2-3) – Did I mention Herman Edwards can’t coach? Of course, they played on the world courses after a week off on their home course. That’s like lambs to the slaughter. Goal 45-7? Good teams don’t lose like that.

(19) Washington Redskins (2-4) – How the hell, with all that talent and all that money and all those high-profile coaches, do you lose a home game to a rookie quarterback and the Tennessee Titans? How could such a thing happen? The Skins are proving once again that money is not always the answer.

(21) Buffalo Bills (2-4) – While Willis McGahee may be having a good year in terms of yards, he still can’t seem to find the end zone. The Bills’ red-zone offense is almost non-existent, and each week they do enough to lose.

(23) San Francisco 49ers (2-4) – Alex Smith continues to play well, but San Francisco’s defense is a mess. He has given up 48, 41, 38 and 34 points in his four losses. However, they have beaten the Rams. This is a crazy league, folks.

(30) Tennessee Titans (1-5) – Despite my thrashing of the Redskins just now, it was a pretty impressive win for a team that most had counted down and out. And while they certainly won’t make the playoffs this year, they have a young quarterback they can get excited about … Vince Young. He showed the poise of a much older player and calmly led the Titans to a big road win on Sunday.

(24) Cleveland Browns (1-4) – Unfortunately, the Browns don’t have any great young players to give them hope. Unless you’re counting Kellen Winslow, Jr., who has yet to prove he’s worth the investment. It’s a long climb for the Brownies.

(25) Miami Dolphins (1-5) – OK, so we’re officially declaring this season for Miami a wash, right? I mean, Daunte obviously came back too soon from injury, which is why the entire team has flushed his season down the toilet, correct? Come on guys, show some heart! This season has had as much to do with putrid offensive line play and lousy defense as it has with Culpepper. Heartless in Miami.

(27) Green Bay Packers (1-4) – During the bye week, Brett Favre threw three interceptions during a family picnic. His QB rating actually went up.

(29) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-4) – An impressive first win of the season for Jon Gruden and the Bucs, beating the Bengals at home. You’ve got to like how Steve Gradkowski has kept them going in the two games they’ve played since Sims went down with a ruptured spleen. And Cadillac Williams is finally starting to show some life, too.

(31) Detroit Lions (1-5) – Congratulations to the Detroit Lions for their first win of the season over the Bills. And kudos to Roy Williams who, after I traded him in week 3 of my fantasy football league season, finally showed some heart and had a great week. Folks, if you have Roy Williams on your fantasy squad, get rid of him now. Because he won’t do that again until Week 12.

(28) Houston Texans (1-4) – How many teams were on bye this week? Caramba! I hate this new goodbye system. It seems like a third of the league didn’t play in Week 6.

(26) Arizona Cardinals (1-5) – Wow. What to say about the loss of Monday night. Just an amazing, mind-blowing choke job. It wasn’t just the fact that they blew a 20-point lead, it’s the fact that they did so without allowing an offensive touchdown. Think how difficult that is. It’s almost impossible! But not for the Cardinals. The only bright spot … Matt Leinart is going to be a very good quarterback in this league for a long, long, long time.

(32) Oakland Raiders (0-5) – The good ship lollipop was in high spirits during the bye week. Randy Moss was almost traded to the Patriots and Jerry Porter was suspended. How did they not trade these guys for draft picks, especially considering how many teams could use a good wide receiver? I don’t understand
