10 great comic book movies

Superheroes can be difficult to film. The colorful costumes that create shocking images in comics can seem absurd when translated into live action. Consider, for example, the goofy Adam West costume from the bat Man television show. However, there have still been a number of very successful superhero movies. In this article, I will discuss ten of the best superhero movies ever made. Movies are in alphabetical order. When a movie is part of a franchise, I will only talk about the best member of that franchise.

Batman (1989): While it has flaws, the first in the Batman film series remains a classic. Between Tim Burton’s Art Deco design and Jack Nicholson’s lurid portrayal of the Joker, the hit Batman movie brought out the weirdness of the insane Batman gallery.

Blade (1998): Besides being a great comic book movie, Sword It is one of the classic vampire movies. Combine “cool” vampires with tremendous action. Wesley Snipes does a fantastic job of portraying a vampire “hero” who is a couple of cards short of a full deck.

The Dark Knight (2008): The Dark Knight is perhaps the best comic book movie ever made. It’s dark, full of tension, and full of action. It becomes a true classic for the brilliant performance of the recently deceased Heath Ledger, who gives us a much less manic version than Jack Nicholson’s version of the Joker.

Dick Tracy (1990): Dick Tracy was not a commercial success, but it was nonetheless one of the most interesting comic book movies ever made. He made the wise decision to stay true to the appearance of the original comic book characters, and somehow he did it without going cheesy.

The Incredibles (2004): While not strictly a comic book movie (there were no Incredibles comics), the movie was a parody of other comic book movies. It highlights some of the innocence of Silver Age comics, while also providing a high-quality family movie at the same time.

Iron Man (2008): In 2008, Marvel finally licensed an Iron Man movie, and the movie was made incredibly entertaining with the inspired portrayal of Robert Downey Jr. as the amoral Tony Stark. It highlighted all the elements that made the Iron Man comics so entertaining, from the ambiguous main character to the fascination with (impossible) gadgets.

Spider-Man (2002): There were three Spider-Man movies, but the original is still the best. He did a very good job of making an exciting “superhero movie” with all the usual notes – there’s an origin story, the hero’s greatest villain, and his main love interest. The movie mixed in some elements from Brian Michael Bendis’s “Ultimate Spider-Man” comics to keep it fresh.

Superman (1978): This was the first superhero movie that tried to follow in the footsteps of Star Wars and become a blockbuster. The movie is wonderful, in large part due to the performance of Christopher Reeve, who manages to strike the right balance between Superman and Clark Kent.

The Watchers (2009): The Watchmen comic was largely regarded as unfilmable, but Zack Snyder proved them all wrong. He managed to capture the feel of the comic, largely using the Watchmen comic for the storyboard. As a result, the film is incredibly acrophobic, so be careful.

X2: X-Men United (2003): The entire X-Men movie trilogy is very well done, but the second movie really stands out. In this movie, we see the X-Men at the center of a battle between those who hate mutants and those who want them to rule the planet. It introduces a number of components of the X-Men myth, such as Weapon X and the death of an important character.
