I’ve been through couple breakups, and I remember one in particular. We were together for almost five years when she decided that we are not compatible. That seems fine to me. I was crying and couldn’t believe that my long relationship had come to an end.

I moved out of the flat we had rented a few weeks before my birthday. My dream has always been to fly to New York City, do some sightseeing and combine it with shopping. I got all my money together and took a flight to New York just a few days before my birthday. My tears and disappointment were almost forgotten. I stayed in a cheap hotel near Central Park and got on the tour bus for two days. I saw this amazing city from the inside out. I bought some pants and tops and enjoyed lunch and dinner at various restaurants in Manhattan.

1) What you need is compensation after a breakup. Where have you always wanted to travel to while you were in your relationship, but never got there?

2) Invite your friends over for a cooked dinner. Enjoy the wine, play some crazy fun games. Start enjoying your life with the guy who has disappointed you so much. Until the next guy shows up at your door…

3) Buy yourself that dress you always wanted, but have never bought. Because your boyfriend always said that this is too expensive.

4) Learn something new. I always wanted to study psychology. I haven’t turned around to do it yet. But I have not given up. I’m in a relationship right now and I’m happy. But if one day I was single again, this is the first thing I would sign up for.

5) Moving abroad. Have you always dreamed of living and working in a foreign country? Have. I moved from Germany to England twenty years ago. And this happened after a relationship breakup in my home county. I have fulfilled my dream living and working abroad, and it is very liberating.

Whatever the reason for the breakup, it is the opportunity for a fresh start in your life. You can enjoy the single life for a while, because I am sure that the new potential future partner will appear on the stage of life sooner or later.

But in the meantime I suggest you enjoy life to the fullest with whatever you do.
