Age restrictions for boat charter in Monaco

Chartering a yacht in Monaco is one of the most luxurious ways to see the surrounding French Riviera. You’ll be able to explore the quaint villages and coves or venture further out into the open waters and visit some of the most spectacular beaches and ports. The most popular type of boat to rent is a catamaran in Monaco as they offer more space than you would get on another type of vessel and the fact that they’re equipped with both a sail and engine means that you can still enjoy your trip even if there isn’t enough wind for sailing.

If you are going to be a bareboat (chartering the boat without a skipper) then you will need some kind of qualification to charter in your chosen destination. This will usually be a RYA Day Skipper or ICC or ASA 104 Bareboat certificate. You should ask your preferred charter broker if you need to take a course or obtain a licence prior to the start of your charter.

A simple rule to remember is that the crew of your chartered yacht want you to enjoy your time on board but they are not babysitters and it’s best to be clear with them from the outset about what kind of behaviour is appropriate for the boat charter in Monaco. Some yachts have specific areas for smoking and others will require all guests to smoke in the cockpit or on deck.

The yacht owner will also appreciate it if you treat the boat as if it were your own home. This is a simple rule to remember and will ensure you have a fantastic time onboard your chartered yacht.
