Clutter and Hoarding – A Simple Way to Tidy Up Your Home Office

Does your home office look like it has hit a tornado? Many times we don’t take the time it takes to maintain our home office. We have so many other things crying out for our attention and clutter quickly builds up. I am going to offer you a simple way to organize your home office. This simple but seemingly effective technique is “daily diligence.”

Using this daily diligence technique has helped several of my clients in many areas of their messy lives. This technique has been used by several clients to successfully organize and maintain their home office.

Taking just a few minutes a day to put everything in its proper place will dramatically simplify keeping your home office tidy. Not to mention, when you start, you don’t have to take the entire office and put it in complete order. For most, that would be too overwhelming and that is why it would be beyond messy and would likely get worse.

Just set aside a few minutes, maybe 5-10, each day and make sure you take the time to use organizational techniques that you have found work for you. If you feel like most of my clients and wondering where to start, I have suggested that you start by taking out the trash first. That seems to have helped in many cases.

Several clients found that by just taking a few moments each day – daily diligence – they could effectively remove trash, reduce clutter, and then maintain their home office.

One of my clients mentioned that she had been able to completely tidy up her home office, which was once overwhelming, and that by using daily diligence, she can now quickly maintain and better utilize her home office. He said he gave himself 5 minutes every day. She took my advice and started taking out the trash first. Then he began to organize the rest of his office down to his filing cabinet.

Another customer said she started by setting a timer, giving herself 2 minutes every day. He said he felt that 2 minutes was something he could stick to and not feel like it was too overwhelming or taking too much time away from other things in the home that needed to be taken care of. She admitted that it was definitely slow at first, but she started to notice a difference and that helped keep her motivated to keep coming back every day. He said that he can now maintain his office in less than the 2 minutes he originally started with and that he has used this technique with success in many of the other cluttered spaces in his life.
