How to Define the Syndrome of Being Busy!

The term ‘being busy’ or ‘I’m very busy’ or whatever has various levels of manifestations, connotations and concoctions. Of course, there are people who are genuinely busy: like those with 9-9 jobs with heavy responsibilities and long commute hours, or full-time housewives who stay extremely busy with daily tasks from early morning until late. at night or vendors whose ‘business’ depends on their constant presence behind their carts for as long as possible or shopkeepers, vendors and the like.

We mention ‘connotations’ and ‘concoctions’ in this connection. This has good reasons. For many people, you must try to define and understand your ‘being busy’ and also try to see through your ‘very busy’ state. Whatever your findings, it is never your business to undermine, ridicule or slander those people! Your only job is to understand the state of affairs to illuminate the syndrome of being busy and to record your observations.

When you call one of your old friends, they might immediately apologize, ‘Oh, you know. I considered calling you many times in the recent past, but I’ve been keeping myself extremely busy these days…!’ Here, your analysis skills do count. You must try to decipher your apparent ‘business’ in immensely objective terms. He/she could very well be ‘busy’ reclining in the armchair enjoying the sunshine for long lazy hours or taking a long afternoon nap or having a whirlwind time shopping or lounging in the restaurants and bars or taking out walking the dog. evening rounds of shit as you like. Well, not to mention the usual “business” of social networks. You can record your observations based on your findings.

You can call someone on an urgent matter and that someone may reply, ‘Oh, I’m really busy right now; please don’t worry… I’ll call you back! Don’t feel bad about it and never expect to get a call back. Instead, try to figure out the status of the businesses in question. That someone could very well be busy just because you called them during the hours when their favorite TV shows or movies are scheduled or that they may be having a good time with some quietly talking guests. Or that he/she may be doing immaculate planning to optimize attendance at upcoming parties/weddings/birthdays/anniversaries. Just record your findings.

Some cases don’t even require cracking efforts; these get so crystal clear, you know? As if you see someone meddling with the computer, hitting the keyboard, frowning at the monitor, taking notes and all that; busy apparently. You never want to upset them, but circumstances force you to ask a mandatory question that only requires ‘yes/no’ or ‘nod/shake’ responses from the ‘busy’ party. So, it goes ahead with the interrupt. And the group responds in the most offensive, unpleasant and aggressive way: ‘Don’t you see I’m so busy… silly! How dare you bother me? You must understand that when I’m on a particular track I can’t take care of other matters… just get it right…!’ You may wonder why such time consuming quarrelsome elaborations while he/she could have resolved the matter in a matter of seconds. That works for ‘businesses’ in any environment or in workplaces or homes; you record

There is seemingly no end to your possible observations and recordings. So we’d like to conclude with one more observation: the people in the classes we mentioned at the beginning as genuinely busy never say they’re busy when you confront them physically or on the phone; they always find time to receive or make personal calls and to say hello and meet people/friends while at work. Unfortunately, this can also trigger some reactions on your end. Figure out that these people are not really busy and free most of the time! Another interesting observation might be that nowadays people are so busy with their smartphones that they can’t even think of answering calls that are pulsing on that very device! Simply put, this syndrome of being busy will continue to be a perplexing human affair. However, you and I can always entertain ourselves with our observations and findings. Oh, I’m very busy right now…!
