When I was a kid, I had to take piano lessons from a really mean old lady who played the organ at our church on Sundays. I didn’t really enjoy being around her at all for numerous reasons. One, I was ten years old when I started the lessons and what ten year old do you know who likes to hang out with older people? Besides, she wasn’t very interested in respect. Now that I’m raising two children of my own who are interested in learning to play the piano, I’m thinking they can learn to play the piano online.

I am a big fan of learning to play the piano online for many reasons, but the main one is that it is often cheaper or even free. You can find thousands of websites on the internet with tutorials and videos for beginner, intermediate and expert level pianists and most of the people who submit them do so just to help others learn. Another great advantage of taking piano lessons online is that if you get separated and can’t get the first few times, all you have to do is rewind the video.

You can learn piano online at your own pace and on your own schedule. No longer will you have to worry about taking a weekly piano lesson or paying someone hundreds of dollars to teach you what you could teach yourself.

I don’t know about you but my family is saving all of our pennies right now and anywhere we can save a substantial amount of money we just jump at the chance. Online lessons start you at a beginner level by learning notes, clefs and key signatures, easy songs, and rhythm. When I start my children with these online piano lessons, I plan to learn along with them. I really don’t want them searching the internet for these videos because they are children and easily distracted. I decided to browse them and put together a video guide ordered by numbers. All they have to do is click on the link I provide and it directs them to the video lesson they will be doing that day.

I’ve never been one to force my kids to do something, so I let them learn piano online. They have complete control over everything and there is no one there breathing down their necks, unless of course they want you to!
