Indian Vedic astrology is perhaps the oldest branch of futurology known to the human race. There are references to Indian astrology in ancient scriptures, Vedas and Puranas written thousands of years ago in this part of the earth. The first known treatise on Vedic astrology is supposed to have been written by Lord Skanda, son of one of the trinities of the Hindu religion, Lord Shiva the creator. One of the ancient and popular Kerala astrologers, Thalakkulathur Bhattathiripad, had written a full explanation only in the first 10 chapters of ‘Brihatjathaka’ known as ‘Dasadhyayee’ as he was of the opinion that the essence of Vedic Astrology had been summarized by Varahamihira. in the first 10 chapters of his monumental work. Today, Vedic astrologers, from Kerala, the cradle of Hindu astrology, follow the latest work of Bhattathiripad and another unique treatise known as ‘Prasnamargam’, the only full hourly astrological treatise available today. .

Indian Vedic astrology, in addition to its unique prediction system, as explained above, also follows the Dasa system based on the constellation of the natal Moon in the natal chart to accurately predict the timing of events that no other branch of of astrology can boast.
