The 2008 MLB All-Star Game

Two New York Yankees players and five Boston Red Sox teammates currently lead the results of the AL primary voting for the 79th All-Star Game, to be played on July 15 at Yankee Stadium. .

The two Yankee infielders, shortstop Derek Jeter and third baseman Alex Rodriguez, are at the apex of their positions. Derek Jeter, an eight-time AL All-Star, got 523,187 votes, while Rodriguez, an 11-time AL All-Star, got 429,238 votes.

On the other hand, Red Sox hitter David Ortiz, who has been an AL All-Star for the past four seasons, has garnered the most votes among all AL players with 556,567 votes. Additionally, outfielder Manny Ramírez, an 11-time American League All-Star, subsequently composed the highest total with 539,122 votes.

Both Kevin Youkilis (419,813 votes) and Dustin Pedroia (384,648) are competing in their first appearances in the Midsummer Classic.
