The Ballet Bible

When I first bought this book, I thought it would be fun to share it with my students. I collect everything related to dance, trinkets, posters, DVDs … hence books. When I came across the e-book online, I thought it would be a nice addition to my collection of memories. I am a dance teacher and volunteer with work in a dance competition and I am always looking for things about the ‘world of dance’, I love everything that has to do with dance. I am a big fan of So you think you can dance Y Dancing with the stars. I can’t wait for them to start over.

So when I had the opportunity to read the Ballet Bible, I was instantly shocked! It exceeded my expectations (which hadn’t been very high considering the sales pitch). In fact, she had found a real gem, an e-book on ballet with solid and valid teaching techniques. The book has over 200 pages of VALID information – SURPRISE! SURPRISE!

Many of the students I teach are very interested in dance contests like American Dance Awards, Starpower, headliners and all the other greats that I’m sure many of you know. So they are not always interested in how to become a dancer, but I always try to instill in them during their dance training that it is not about how to become a prima ballerina that is important. It is the solid foundation of ballet training that underpins everything you do related to dance. Ballet training is what really separates the great dancers from the weak or mediocre. So they roll their eyes after one of my lectures and reluctantly head up the stairs to the ballet room. Well, there is a problem: finances. It is true that not all my students can pay for the extra classes that we offer in our school and, of course, they fall short in their training. I must admit, regrettable though, that these particular students don’t always do so well when it comes time for dance competition season. It is a pity.

Well now we have – The Ballet Bible! Although of course you can’t compare this to a real class, it’s a great study guide for those who want to put in some extra hours at home. If you can only afford one class per week, but want to read some tips to improve your dance competition game or honestly improve your overall ballet technique, this is a great buy.

Section 1 – “The 3 Simple Rules of a Prima Ballerina” is the pdf version of the e-book containing over 200 pages of complex text, images and illustrations of ballet positions and movements. This part of the e-book tells you how to perform the movements correctly and also illustrates common mistakes that most people make when learning. This is the best part of this section of the material. Sometimes dancers really need to be shown the wrong way to correct themselves and perform the move correctly. Excellent!

Section 2 – “Audio Terms and Definitions” is the audio software package. This section offers a search and search function that allows you to find any ballet term and learn its corresponding meaning. For each exercise, dance step, position, and / or pose, all you have to do is point and find. The reader also learns the correct French accents for specific terms, as detailed as that. After clicking on the term, you can hear the correct definition, it’s a great feature! This is exactly like listening to a dance teacher give instructions in the classroom.

Section 3 – “Video Demonstrations” is a collection of more than 60 videos on ballet technique. That’s right, 60 videos, which equates to 60 different classes. If you really had to pay for 60 dance lessons, you can imagine the cost it would incur. Now you can put on your dancing shoes and keep up with the rhythm in your living room. Being able to look and imitate is an invaluable tool that The Ballet Bible offers!

Now all the positives that are said, of course, are the cons.

Being in a dance class with a qualified and experienced teacher is irreplaceable. With an e-book, the “practical” aspect of dance is non-existent, to say the least. You don’t have the teacher physically correcting you and manipulating the student’s body in the correct positions. This is something that can only be achieved in a classroom. But the alternative is nothing at all.

Then THE BIBLE OF BALLET is the best compromise! Its author, Anita Leembruggen, is a dancer and ballet educator. She has spent years in the studio and has brought you this book to share with her students and / or children at home. Now everyone can learn ballet, it will be as simple as turning on the computer. So put on your ballet shoes and dance with Anita in THE BIBLE OF BALLET!

Good luck with all of your dance contests this year!
