These cookies are made from a basic gingerbread mix, which is then simply cut with a tree-shaped cutter. Before baking, make a hole in the top of the tree with the tip of a small paintbrush. Once cold, make a glaze by adding a little water to the sifted icing sugar until you get a thick paste. Pour over cookies with a teaspoon and spread out in the shape of a tree. When it’s almost done, add some chocolate noodles and silver balls, and thread a ribbon through the hole.

Here’s one to get the kids involved! These are decorated with the tubes of icing available in supermarkets – Dr Oetker is a good brand. Using your favorite cookie recipe, cut out star, circle, and heart shapes with cutters. Cut out shapes from the fondant icing with smaller cutters and apply to the cookie with a little water. With the white marker, draw a frame around the edge of the cookie and place the names on the fondant. Add silver balls for a festive touch.

star decorations

These can also be made with your favorite cookie dough, which is then cut into stars using a cutter. Once again, make the hole in the tape with the tip of a small paintbrush. After baking, let the cookies cool before putting some royal icing on them (you can buy icing sugar, with just water, in supermarkets) or thick icing with a star tip. Add silver balls or other decorations of your choice. Once attached, simply add a ribbon loop and they are ready to hang.

Tree Doves

You’ll find these icing and glitter colors from all the cake decorating specialists. Simply cut the doves out of colored fondant and use a bit of water to make it adhere to the cookie. Decorate with sugar flowers made from florist fondant (specialists also sell cutters and molds) before attaching a ribbon.
