Top 4 Golf Courses in Pattaya, Thailand

Here we take a look at the best Pattaya golf courses in Thailand. Pattaya has recently been awarded “Asia/Australasia Golf Destination of the Year” by IAGTO and boasts over 20 golf courses.

Laem Chabang International Country Club

About 40 minutes outside of Pattaya | Top quality facilities | 27 holes

Laem Chabang is undoubtedly one of the best golf courses near Pattaya with 27 holes and contributions from Jack Nicklaus. The clubhouse overlooks the 9th hole of the lake course; one of the best 9 holes in the area. Laem Chabang International Country Club is a must-see challenge for golfers of all levels with great design and some of the best caddies in the area. One tip is to bring a good supply of golf balls if you have a high handicap as there are plenty of chances to lose them!

There are 3 sets of 9-hole courses: the Mountain Course (circled around mountain-style hills), the Lake Course (9 holes that run along a creek), and the Valley Course (surrounded by picturesque hills).

Top Drive: Hole 1 of the Mountain course requires a straight course as it is surrounded by trees and water to the right. A drive of at least 170 yards from the white tees is required.

Upper Hole: Hole 6 on the Lakes Course requires a precise shot and then a second precise shot over the water.

Burapha Golf Club

About 40 minutes from Pattaya | Good facilities | 36 holes

Burapha is a consistently well-presented course that hosts the Pattaya Singha Open and the Thailand Open every year. Designed by Gary Panks and famed tour pro David Graham, this course is always popular with locals and tourists alike. Burapha is also known for having some of the most knowledgeable caddies in the local area due to their excellent training routine.

The maintenance staff is also highly trained, which means the course is always in tip-top condition, even with the number of golfers who visit the course throughout the year.

There are 4 different games of 9 holes:

A – a combination of holes on flat ground that requires careful shot planning

B: a challenging 9-hole hilly game, used in top competitions

C – a winding set of nine where straight shots are required

D – A set of nine holes with excellent views of Pattaya from the highest point of the course

Top Drive: The 9th hole on Course C is a long shot over tees then water and requires a good long drive to reach the fairway.

Upper Hole: Hole 5 on Course B is well known because the entire left side is bordered by a bunker and then by water. If you go over the green, you will most likely be in the bunker, which requires a good bunker shot to get out.

Former course of Siam Country Club

30 minutes from downtown Pattaya | World class 18 hole course

The Siam Country Club Old Course is one of the largest but oldest golf courses in Pattaya. Originally designed in 1969, it has been updated in recent years by removing some trees to allow for a natural breeze on the course. The course is also well known as it has been the host of the LPGA Thailand competition in February. One of the main features of the course is the bunkers – you will often find at least 4 or 5 per hole, although there are less than the Plantation course next to the old course. Course maintenance is of the highest quality, with highly trained ground staff and caddies who care for the fairways, greens, and rough.

Top Drive: The 8th hole is a par 3 with a shot over the water to a green surrounded by bunkers. At 191 yards, it’s also a long par 3 where every yard counts!

Top Hole – The ninth hole is the most scenic hole on the course with a good view of the Buddha statue on top of the adjacent hill.

Siam Country Club Planting Course

New addition to the Pattaya region | 30 minutes | 27 holes

The Plantation course at Siam Country Club features three sets of nine holes (sugarcane, tapioca and pineapple). The course was built in 2007 by the world-renowned Schmidt & Curley Design Inc. of Arizona, at the same time the old course was being renovated. One of the main features of the course is the careful shot selection required to avoid the many bunkers on the course, as well as the narrow layout. Low handicap players are attracted to the course due to the difficulty, but players who can generally hit straight shots will have a good time on this course whatever the handicap.

Sugarcane (a): There isn’t much water in these nine, but bunkers are everywhere! Hole 5, for example, has over 20 of them!

Tapioca (b) – A good combination of water holes and bunkers that cover the main landing areas of the tee shot. Course b cements the idea that accuracy is the policy here!

Pineapple (c) – Larger holes mixed with water and more sand. A very picturesque mix of holes with great views of the surrounding hills.

Top Drive: Hole 5 of course A (Sugar Cane) requires a good tee shot and the player can decide between a short but dangerous line (right) or a long but safer route (left).

Upper Hole: Hole 6 on Course C is a long par 5 that winds around a lake. Accuracy is very important to achieve.
