As the first week of the NFL season came and went, some teams won, some teams lost, and some teams, like the Buffalo Bills, saw life in perspective. With only one game down and fifteen to play, it’s hard to understand who’s good, who’s bad, and who’s just awful. But, with our week one power ratings, we are trying to do just that.

One week:

1. Indianapolis Colts: In what was supposed to be a close game, Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne led Indianapolis to a New Orleans hit. The only thing the saints are marching on now is remorse.

2. New England Patriots: We all know that the “real” Super Bowl last year was between the Pats and the Colts. With New England punishing the New York Jets, the same championship may reap its head.

3. San Diego Chargers: Phillip Rivers wasn’t exactly a great quarterback in this game, but the Chargers found a way to beat “Da Bears.” Still, if they want to make up for the opportunities they missed last season, they better make sure their offense isn’t offensive to their fans.

4. Dallas Cowboys: Tony Romo, rebounding with greatness from his mistake in last year’s playoff game, made every Fantasy player want to be on his team. If the Cowboys can keep curdling, they will be the team to beat in the NFC.

5. Denver Broncos: The Denver Broncos recently haven’t done well on opening day. This trend, until Jason Elam’s last second literal field goal, seemed to continue. Not only was it a great road win for Denver, but it was a great emotional victory, and one that will give Jay Cutler a boost to his young confidence.

6. Carolina Panthers: Two words for Carolina fans: they are back. The duo of Jake Delhomme and Steve Smith once again provided the foundation for a solid victory, no less than on the road. The Panthers defense also did a great job silencing Steven Jackson. Let’s face it, that’s not easy to do.

7. Pittsburgh Steelers: Sure, they won big, but let’s not get carried away: they were playing the Browns. Nonetheless, Big Ben looked great in his 2007 debut, showing fans that the source of his 2005 power was not in his appendix. We’ll see how they do it when they play a team that doesn’t come from Cleveland.

8. Cincinnati Bengals: If the most disappointing part of Cincinnati games continues to be Chad Johnson’s overblown but poor touchdown celebration, the Bengals could have a great season. They cut him close to the end, but his defense figured out how to win. That’s what good teams do.

9. Chicago Bears: No, they didn’t win, but they held one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL at just 14 points. Still, if they’re going to be a contender, even in the NFC, they have to have some kind of offense: put Brian in and rex the ax.

10. Seattle Seahawks: They started slowly, but the Seahawks eventually found themselves flying. If their defense continues to play well and Shaun Alexander can remain without a jury, they will make the playoffs. Where they go from there, nobody knows.

11. Baltimore Ravens: The loss to the Bengals not only hurt the Ravens’ pride, it also left Steve McNair with a separated shoulder and Ray Lewis with a bicep injury. In light of having more turnovers than a neighborhood bakery, the Ravens have a lot of work to do on offense.

12. New Orleans Saints: Yes, they were mistreated at Indy, but don’t count the Saints yet. If last year taught us anything, it is that this team and its fans are full of heart. The heart wins where talent fails.

13. Philadelphia Eagles: A loss to Green Bay wasn’t exactly how Donovan McNabb wanted to start the season, but ruling them out is a huge overreaction. Lambeau Field on opening day is one of the most difficult places to play. Hang in there and hope the Eagles don’t get so ruffled feathers back.

14. Green Bay Packers: Sunday’s game reminded people in Green Bay why they root for the home team. In a less-than-stellar division, Green Bay actually has some playoff potential. They have Favre’s experience and leadership along with youthful talent. They are going to surprise some people.

15. Houston Texans: After destroying the Kansas City Chiefs, Houston fans may find themselves shouting “Super Bowl, Super Bowl.” But let’s not get too crazy. The Chiefs are not a very worthy opponent. If the Texans can easily beat someone better, Houston fans may have reason to get excited.

16. Tennessee Titans: With Vince Young and Chris Brown as threats, the Titans could see an explosive year. What’s more, his defense really played … well, well.

17. San Francisco: His defense and offense seemed to have switched roles, with the defense actually playing very well and the offense poor. Still, Alex Smith won when he had to and Frank Gore, running back extraordinary, will have a good season. This team will have a better year than average.

18. Minnesota Vikings: The Vikings were truly warriors against the Falcons on Sunday. While they looked great, keep in mind that Atlanta has had a bad offseason. Still, if the Vikings can do this with teams whose seasons have not been doubled by Fido, the Minnesotans may find themselves making the NFC North quite competitive.

19. Washington Redskins: It wasn’t pretty, but it was a win. His offense did the job when it was needed. An overtime win on opening day is always exciting. For now, the Redskins are doing great.

20. Jacksonville Jaguars: AFC Chicago Bears Jacksonville are lost when opponents score: Without their dominant defense, the Jaguars won’t win. If his offense doesn’t start doing … nothing, this is going to be a very, very long season.

21. Miami dolphins: The overtime loss to the Washington Redskins hurt the Fins, both qualifying and emotionally. Still, there are signs of life: Trent Green did well in his debut (he would have done better if his receivers kept the ball). If their defense can stop the race, the Dolphins will bounce back.

22. New York Giants: The Giants and Cowboys game was getting exciting and then injuries came. The Giants are not low on the power rankings because they played horribly, but because their entire team was apparently injured. Brandon Jacobs will be out for a month, Osi Umenyiora will be out for a few months, and Eli Manning will be out for at least one game, maybe more. The Giants will be happy when it’s October.

23. Arizona Cardinals: His defense really played well against the 49ers. Too bad the same cannot be said for his offense. If they’re going to have even a mediocre season, Arizona’s receivers will have to open up so Leinhart has a place to go.

24. Detroit Lions: In what was the preview of the anti-Super Bowl, the Detroit Lions destroyed the Oakland Raiders. The Lions aren’t going to win a championship, but their offense should have a productive year. This could be a turning point.

25. New York Jets: Jets fans are realizing that if they want to be a good team, they will have to learn to play with the greats. Not only did they lose to the Patriots, they looked horrible. Hopefully the coach they call Man Genius can find a way to win.

26. Buffalo Bills: With thoughts and prayers directed at Kevin Everett, soccer seems unimportant. Hopefully, even if his football career is over, he can recover and lead a good and full life.

27. St. Louis Rams: When your star runner has a lousy game, you are not going to win. Losing at home on opening day will be tough for the Rams to overcome. Steven Jackson will have to turn it around, and not turn it around, if the Rams are going to save the season.

28. Atlanta Falcons: It’s really a shame the entire team has to suffer for one man’s inhumane decisions. It would be nice to see Joey Harrington get it right. He may not be a better quarterback than Michael Vick, but I bet he’s a better person.

29. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Don’t discount this team just yet … give it some games. His defense showed signs of life, but his offense struggled in every sense of the word. Still, Gruden knows how to train. You will find a few tricks up your sleeve.

30. Oakland Raiders: Even when they were horrendous last year, his defense was excellent. That seems to no longer be the case. The Chargers and Broncos are happy that the Raiders are in their division.

31. Kansas City Chiefs: Wow, this outfit looks bad. Opponents might even have a chance to win at Arrowhead in November and December of this year. Like the Raiders, the Chargers and Broncos welcome the Chiefs’ presence in the AFC West.

32. Cleveland Browns: Look for Brady Quinn as the starting quarterback before the season ends. You might as well put it down and attribute this to a year of “rebuilding”.

You believe in Magic? Though only about two decades old, the Orlando Magic have already made 10 NBA playoff appearances, won three division crowns, a couple of trips to the Eastern Conference Finals and a trip to the NBA Finals. Next on the team’s wish list is the first NBA Championship of its franchise.

What’s so magical about the name Orlando? After a “name the team” contest, the three finalists were:

or the juice

or The Magic

o The tropics

The franchise “The Magic”, which refers to the main attraction of Orlando: The Walt Disney World Resort. As the largest and most visited resort on Earth, it is magical for both children and adults who visit it.

After a four-year grassroots effort, the Orlando Magic started an NBA expansion team during the 1989-1990 season. Unfortunately, his first season in the league was less than magical. The New Jersey Nets trapped the Magic in a 118-110 loss during the franchise opener. Unfortunately, the Magic’s first NBA season was also disappointing, at 18-64.

However, the Magic had a magical year only five years after entering the NBA. They had added Shaquille “Shaq” O’Neal (Center) and Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway (Guard) to their roster, making them true contenders in the NBA. In fact, Orlando finished the 1994-1995 season with an outstanding record of 57-25.

On his mother’s second trip to the playoffs, the Magic made their opponents disappear into thin air. They would crush the Boston Celtics (3-1), beat Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls (4-2) and cut the Indiana Pacers (4-3). However, in the NBA Finals, Orlando seemed to run out of magic. In Game 1, the Houston Rockets scored with a buzzer and finally won in overtime. They won the NBA Championship by sweeping the Orlando Magic (4-0).

Over the next season (1995-1996), the Orlando Magic posted a spectacular 60-22 regular season record heading into the playoffs. Orlando crushed the Detroit Pistons (3-0), and then the Atlanta Hawks (4-1). However, Michael Jordan and the Bulls would avenge their loss in the Eastern Conference Championship to the Magic, during the previous year. This time, they trampled the Magic (4-0).

In roughly two decades, the Orlando Magic rosters have featured some of the NBA’s biggest stars, including:

Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway

Hardaway has been to four All-Star games and three All-NBA teams.

Grant Hill (2000-2007)

Hill was the 1995 NBA co-“Rookie of the Year” and has been to seven NBA All-Star games.

Dwight howard

Howard has played two NBA All-Star games and was the 2008 NBA Slam Dunk Champion.

Tracy mcgrady

Grady has been to seven NBA All-Star games and has won two NBA scoring titles.

Shaquille “Shaq” O’Neal

Shaq has won four NBA championships and has been in 14 All-Star games.

Although they are one of the youngest teams in the NBA, the Orlando Magic have already advanced deeply into the NBA Finals. Use Orlando Magic merchandise to cheer on the team as they strive to make an NBA Finals trophy appear!

He was born on February 22, 1918 in Alton, Illinois (USA). He was the first of five children born to his parents, Harold and Addie Wadlow. They happened to have two more boys and two girls. Surprisingly, both his brothers and sisters were only normal height and weight. Robert’s own weight when he was born was nothing out of the ordinary: 3.85 kg (8 lb 8 oz). In fact, for the first two years of his life, his growth rate was normal. When he was two years old, he had to undergo a double hernia operation. It’s impossible to say if there was a connection to that, but since then, things started to change drastically.

Its growth rate increased remarkably. By the time he was 5 years old, he reached a height of 1.63 meters (5 feet 4 inches) and reached 6 feet when he was only 8 years old. Over the next 4 years, he grew an average of 2.5 inches per year until he was 12 years old, when his height reached 2.10 meters (6 feet 10.5 inches).

In the next 3 years, its growth rate accelerated even more. He grew another 24 cm (9.5 inches) so that he was 2.34 meters (7 feet 8 inches) when he was 15 years old. During the 2 years after that, their growth rate slowed slightly to just over 2 inches per year. When he was 17, his height was 2.45 meters (8 feet 0.38 inches), but he couldn’t stop growing.

The following year, it grew another 8 cm (just over 3 inches), but only 2 inches the following year. He was now 19 years old and his height was 2.58 meters (8 feet 5.5 inches).

In the next 2 years, its growth rate slowed to its slowest rate for quite some time, but it still grew. When his adolescence came to an end, his height reached 2.61 meters (8 feet 6.75 inches). He was 2.65 meters (8 feet 8.25 inches) when he was 21 years old. His last recorded measurement was 2.72 meters (8 feet 11.1 inches) when he was 22 years and 5 months old.

As you can imagine, he couldn’t walk in public without attracting attention. People inevitably stared at him and crowds gathered around him. Some people, quite cruelly, kicked or pinched his legs to check that he was not on stilts.

His extreme height obviously made life difficult for him. He couldn’t function the way people of normal height do. I couldn’t go by bus, train, or plane. The seats were only made for people 6 feet and under. In spite of everything, he was healthy, but he did suffer from circulation problems in his legs and did not have much sensation in his feet.

Not only was he the tallest man of all time, but he also had the largest hands and feet of all time. His shoes had to be specially made, as did his clothes. Their shoe size was 36 (37AA for US measurements), they were 47cm (18.5 inches) long.

Human growth is caused by a hormone called “somatotropin”, the source of which is provided by the “pituitary gland”. When he was 12 years old, doctors discovered that this gland had become overactive, which was causing its abnormal growth. His parents were warned that corrective surgery would be risky with no guarantee of success, so they decided against it.

Robert died sadly in his sleep on July 15, 1940. He was buried in his hometown. His coffin was 3.28 meters (10 feet 9 inches) long and had to be carried by 12 men. The city closed its operations out of respect and more than 40,000 people signed the registry at his funeral.

Were you excited when the Seattle Seahawks flew to Super Bowl XL? In 2005, the Seahawks achieved their greatest success in the NFL by playing in the NFL title game. However, the Seahawks’ tradition stretches across three decades, until 1976. From their birth in the NFL world to fighting the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XL, the Seahawks have had several memorable seasons:

1. First season of the NFL (1976)

The Seattle Seahawks didn’t fly smoothly during their first NFL season. Before playing his first game, Seahawks owner Lloyd W. Nordstrom died while on vacation in Mexico. The Seahawks then experienced a heartbreaking loss in their first game, falling 30-24, to other NFL birds: the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals had intercepted the Seahawks in the end zone on the last play of the game. In the end, the Seahawks would finish the season with a 2-12 record, defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons.

2. Steve Largent’s rookie season (1979)

In 1979, Steve Largent, the only Seahawks Hall of Famer to play his entire career in Seattle, played his rookie season. Ironically, the Seahawks selected Largent in the fourth round of the NFL draft. Largent would play outstandingly for the Seahawks, racking up 819 receptions (a Seahawks record) for more than 13,000 yards and 101 touchdowns in his career. The NFL drafted him to seven Pro Bowls and drafted him to the All-Decade team of the 1980s. Largent’s jersey number (# 80) is the only one the Seahawks have retired.

3. First conference championship game (1983)

During the 1983-1984 season, the Seahawks were 6-6 before returning to contention for the playoffs. They finished the season strong, rounding it out with a respectable 9-7 record. In the playoffs, Seattle would drop the Broncos (31-7) and then beat the Dolphins 27-20. The Seahawks then faced the Los Angeles Raiders in the AFC Championship game. The Raiders took a dominant 20-0 lead at halftime and ultimately defeated the Seahawks, 30-14.

4. First appearance in the Super Bowl (2005)

The Seahawks played in their second NFL conference championship, as a member of the NFC. They flew high throughout the season, ending the regular season with a 13-3 record. The record was a franchise record. Seahawks Shaun Alexander (running back) won the NFL Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year award. In the playoffs, the Seahawks beat the Redskins (20-10) and later domesticated the Carolina Panthers (34-14).

In the Super Bowl, the Seahawks faced the Pittsburgh Steelers, a powerhouse during the 1970s. Seattle played closely with the Steelers in the first half, which ended with the Steelers holding a slim 7-3 lead. In the second half, the Steelers would score another two touchdowns, while the Seahawks scored just one. While the game included multiple controversial decisions, the Steelers would ultimately win the game, 21-10.

Throughout their three decades in the NFL, the Seattle Seahawks’ greatest success has come recently. However, his goal remains to fly with the NFL’s biggest catch: a Super Bowl trophy. Use Seattle Seahawks merchandise to cheer on your favorite birds!

Bob Gebelein begins by saying “This book needs to be written.” “The story needs to be told.” You will find out why he makes this statement by reading this book.

I’m only going to mention a few topics in this book because I don’t want to reveal too much to readers.

The author begins many of the chapters with a question. “Have you been ridiculed by members of the scientific establishment because of your psychic beliefs?” So, just think about this statement. Many of us have experienced spiritual beliefs and psychic experiences. What happens when you express these beliefs and experiences to other people? Are they looking at you like you’re some kind of charlatan? It doesn’t even have to be someone with a scientific background. These beliefs are ingrained in our minds because, as the author states, “science has tapped into a human psychological need for authorities who are people who know all the answers.” These scientists believe that there is no reality beyond the physical. Therefore, people who express interest in topics such as clairvoyance, the power of prayer, reincarnation, etc. they are dismissed as mentally incompetent. We all know that there is much more to clairvoyance, reincarnation, etc. The author claims that he had a dream about his grandmother’s death an hour before receiving the telegram. I also had a similar experience to this when my father was very ill. I came to the hospital to visit him and he told me that he had many visitors that day. When I asked him who had come to visit me, all the people he named were dead. I knew right then and there that he was approaching death. I’m sure many of us have had experiences like this, whether it refers to death, a miracle that happened because of prayer, or what about the times we’ve gone to a certain place and felt like we’ve been there before? What about the times when we met a person for the first time and could swear we knew this person before? Could this have something to do with reincarnation?

What is science? The author affirms that to have science there must be three essential ingredients; observation, replication and valid logic. Consider observation the most important of the three. Now, take a moment and think about the word “state.” There are many types of status in the world. We have the status of teacher, the status of our parents, etc. We look at and believe what anyone with a so-called “status” tells us. If our teacher told us something, we would believe it. The author is pointing out that the same is true for scientists. They have an authority status and just because they are scientists, people will believe what they say. The author claims that religion is a rigid belief system and an explanation for the unknown. Once again, we return to the authority figure. When we were young, we saw our parents as someone who knew all the answers. Many things were “unknown” to us and we learned from a very young age that our parents had the answers because that was engraved in our minds. It is also what we feel for our priest. They are also an authority figure and we think they know all the answers. Now, if a scientist indicates “that does not exist”, is it the same as saying “I do not know the answer”? Bob calls this an ego defense. Think about it, it makes sense. Could this be an example of dirty science?

Bob Gebelein believes that many issues have been “ignored, discarded and / or suppressed due to the dominance of physicalism.” I had some suggestions; all issues must be moot, scientists must be the best qualified to operate in that particular field, and lawyers using illegal methods are disqualified. The author lists several ways that people with money can use their wealth to help the academic community become self-aware.

Bob Gebelein’s writing style is clear and to the point. However, this book should not be considered light reading. The author will bring up many topics that he is passionate about and you will be left with many things to think about. You will need to think deeply and try to put your own views aside for a moment as you reflect on the author’s statements. After you read Dirty scienceIt will be up to you to decide whether or not you agree with the author. Even if you disagree with him, you will find this book unique and compelling. I have read another of Bob Gebelein’s other books, The mental environment. This book is also very interesting and talks about the subject of “mental contamination”. If you find Dirty science interesting and challenging read, you may want to add The mental environment to your list.

When NBA player LeBron James cut his head off falling on a photographer during Game 4 of the NBA Finals, it was simply an accident and part of the game. However, no one seemed concerned about the photographer. Even my first thought was “I hope the photographer has a rubber lens cover over his lens.”

You see, it’s an NBA rule that all still photographers must have rubber hoods on their lenses to work on the sidelines. Rubber hoods are a safety measure to prevent players from cutting themselves if they collide with a photographer’s lens.

In James’s case, I don’t think it would have made a difference because it seemed to me that he hit the body of the camera, not the lens.

After James fell on the NBA cameraman, many fans and some professional athletes tweeted that the cameraman should have moved. That’s crazy. Where was he going to go? There were seats behind him costing thousands of dollars with fans, a fixed photographer on his left side and the goal on his right side.

During NBA games, photographers have to sit cross-legged on the floor in a very small space. Network and sand photographers have to sit on a small stool with small wheels. Sitting on the floor in that position for an entire match causes severe leg cramps and paresthesia, the nerves in the foot stop working properly and cause an abnormal sensation.

In the 1990s, the seats of basketball fans weren’t as close to photographers as they are now. On many occasions I was able to roll away to avoid being hit or stepped on. That is not the case today when photographing some NBA, ACC or SEC basketball games.

During a game of the SEC Tournament in Nashville, TN, LSU’s Glenn “Big Baby” Davis fell on me and four other photographers. Fortunately no one was seriously injured. However, that was not the case with my last ACC basketball game in 2013. During the game, a Georgia Tech player’s knee and foot hit me on the head as he tried to jump on me. His other foot caught the side of the camera which somehow led my thin camera strap under the nail of my trigger finger on my right hand. That resulted in pain, a severe sprain, and an infection.

As a photojournalist who has photographed hundreds of professional and college events both nationally and internationally, it is a known risk among sports photographers that, at some point, you could be hit by an athlete, fan, animal, baseball, baseball bat, American football, etc. softball, mascot, racing car, bowling ball, hockey puck, glass, bull feces, bird droppings, boxer’s blood and saliva, beer from a drunk fan, bitten by a huge snake or insect and my All-time favorite vomit of a drunken NASCAR fan.

That doesn’t include getting trampled on by an NBA and NCAA official, avoiding getting beaten up by Philadelphia Eagle fans, being cursed by a losing coach, cursed by players, cursed by a groupie because you won’t give an athlete their number. , cursed by a preacher’s wife because you didn’t photograph her cheerleader daughter, receiving a two-page letter explaining why your photo of a quarterback should have been credited to his son, and chasing a Yankees fan who grabbed a of your cameras after the World Cup. Serie.

In case you were wondering, all of those things happen to me except chasing the Yankees fan. That happened to a Sports Illustrated photographer after the 1996 World Series at Yankee Stadium.

As for my stolen gear, I never caught the photographer who stole my Nikon camera and lens during the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway.

In 2006, I was knocked out by a baseball line while photographing the Atlanta Braves vs. the Philadelphia Phillies. It would have killed me if it had been a few inches taller on my neck. Within seconds of being hit, Atlanta Braves coach Jeff Porter was next to me on ice, asking the usual questions he asks players who get hit on the head by a baseball.

So if your goal is to become a major league sports photographer, make sure you not only have excellent knowledge of the photographic arts, but are also in excellent health and have excellent insurance.

So when a 6’8 ” LeBron James lands on you, or a hockey puck comes buzzing at your head, don’t wear your heart on your sleeve. It’s all part of the territory of a sports photographer.

First came the total solar eclipse, which swept across the country on Monday, August 21. Then, just a few days later, the streak began to ripple through the sport of baseball and has yet to stop.

No team has enjoyed a career like this in a long time, but somehow the Cleveland Indians’ eighteen-game winning streak has been underestimated. After all, winning eighteen games in a single month is quite an accomplishment, and some teams go two full months without adding eighteen digits to the victory column. This season alone, the Philadelphia Phillies didn’t get their eighteenth victory until June 4, something Cleveland has managed to do in eighteen days.

There are many notable aspects to this streak, aside from what little has happened in baseball’s long history. Consider, for example, that eleven of the eighteen consecutive victories occurred during a road trip in three different cities, from New York to Detroit to Chicago.

It’s one thing to beat rebuilding teams like the Tigers and White Sox, but the other four opponents during the streak have been in the middle of a pennant race. Boston, Baltimore and New York are battling not only for the AL East championship, but also for a spot in the wild card game, as is Kansas City.

The quality of the opponent didn’t seem to matter during the streak, and neither did the pitcher. Evidence of a strong rotation and excellent bullpen, eight different pitchers have earned the decision in eighteen consecutive victories.

Nor did playing time seem to affect the Indians, who continue to shoot either under the stars or in the sun. Ten of the wins during the streak were night games and the other eight were played during the day.

Even though the eighteenth victory was decided by just a 3-2 margin over the Baltimore Orioles, most of the games have not even been even. Over a dozen and a half contests, Cleveland has outscored its opponents by an overwhelming 117-32 margin. Incredibly, the Indians are averaging more than four runs per game than the team they are playing.

The roll has gone on for almost three weeks now, which, even in a baseball season’s marathon, is still a long time. As proof, consider some of the strange events that have occurred at the diamond since the start of the streak on August 24.

Houston played a home series against Texas at Tropicana Field, the ballpark of the Tampa Bay Rays. The Astros had been displaced by Hurricane Harvey, prompting the club to face the Rangers in the Eastern time zone.

Tampa Bay, ironically, scheduled a home series to be played at CitiField, the ballpark of the New York Mets. The cause was again weather related, as Hurricane Irma threatened Florida so much that the Rays had to play a home series against the Yankees across town.

Mother Nature has certainly thrown us a lot of challenges over the past few weeks, from an eclipse to two hurricanes and an earthquake in our south. She, like her many opponents, has been powerless to stop the Cleveland Indians’ historic winning streak.

Almost all of the people who were asked will admit that they enjoy a game or two of bowling once in a while. It is a sport that is relatively new, it has only been about forty years, but it is one of the most popular sports out there. Why is that? Well, for starters, it’s a game for anyone. It’s fun for everyone from people who play once every few years to people who play competitively.

Bowling is a relatively inexpensive sport and hard to beat in terms of fun per dollar invested. There are many ways to play, from family games to tournaments. For a family or a group of friends, there are several ways that they can play. Depending on the skill level of the bowler, the number of people, or whether bowlers like to take their time, there are a number of ways to pay. Bowlers can rent lanes by time, paying by blocks of time. This can be good for fast bowlers or larger groups, especially useful if a large group of people is scheduling a bowling outing. In addition to renting lanes according to the weather, people can also pay for bowling. Also, if kids come bowling with their parents, most alleys feature bumpers that rise out of the lanes, making gutter balls a thing of the past. Some alleys even now have a feature where the bumpers will appear based on the bowler selected, so adults and children can play in the same lane.

In addition to being an individual or small group sport, the league is an important part of bowling. Bowling leagues are a great way for large groups of people to meet and play competitively. Some leagues meet once a week, others once a month, and any variation in between. Leagues are generally based on a common interest, from church leagues to beer leagues to charity leagues. Competitive leagues often have a large number of teams competing for trophies / awards / etc. Leagues are also a way to get a lot of bowling for a relatively cheap price. Some leagues can be as cheap as $ 10 per person, including a pitcher of beer / soda and a pizza for each individual team. Most league games pit one team against another for three competitive games, with the winner determined by the average score.

Whether it’s an individual looking to blow off steam or a group of people looking to get involved in serious competition, bowling is a sport to study. With so many options and such a low price, bowling is a great way to spend an afternoon with the family or an evening with the guys from work. Bowling is a game that anyone can learn, few can master, but everyone can have fun.

The three remaining undefeated college basketball players are in action Wednesday. No. 1 Duke (16-0) will host North Carolina State (14-2) on ESPN at 7:00 ET. A victory will equal the best start in school history of 17-0, set by the 1991-92 team that opened 17-0 en route to a second straight national title. Duke has beaten NC St in 18 of the last 20 meetings between schools and has won NINE straight home games, since losing 77-60 exactly 11 years ago today! Duke is favored by 11 points with a total of 145.

My free game is in the NBA on Wednesday. Take the San Antonio Spurs over the Milwaukee Bucks at 8:35 ET. I’m ready to extend my current 5-2 CBB mini-career with another 15 * CBB winner (4-1 in ’06), my first Las Vegas Insider on CBB for ’06, and my 10 * MAC Game of the month. In the NBA, get my first 15 * since late December! Pay AFTER you win!

No. 12 Florida (16-0) is off to its best start and hosts Savannah St in an unaligned game. You may recall that Savannah St was 0-28 last year. How are the Tigers doing this year? Well, they started with a 63-59 win over Wilberforce (not making that name up!) But have since lost 17 straight games. Let’s make the Gators a 10-point favorite! The nation’s third undefeated team, Pittsburgh (14-0), is at Rutgers (12-4) at 8:00 ET.

The Panthers have started at least 10-0 in each of the last three seasons and own seven straight wins over the Scarlet Knights. Pitt is favored by 2 1/2 points with a total of 132. Another game featured on tonight’s 37-game CBB card is at 8:30 ET on ESPN2, where Wisconsin (14-2) is Ohio State (12 -two). . The Badgers (4-0) are the only undefeated team in the Big-10 and have beaten the Buckeyes in their last five meetings. However, Wisconsin hasn’t started a 15-2 year since the 1929-30 season! Ohio St is a 4 1/2 point favorite with a total of 139 1/2.

ESPN televises the LeBron vs. Carmelo matchup at 9:05 ET. The Cavs enter a four-game losing streak (1-3 ATS) and have opened their six-game road trip, 0-3. The Nuggets have won six of their last eight games (7-1 ATS) and are favored by five points with a total of 202 1/2. In five previous meetings between the top two players in the 2003 draft, the Cavs are 3-2 after beating the Nuggets 94-85 on December 15 in Cleveland.

Interestingly, James is averaging just 20.8 PPG and Anthony just 18.2 PPG in those five meetings, totals well below the players’ season averages this year (James is at 31.1 PPG and Anthony at 25.7 PPG). Tonight’s NBA card includes 12 games and the NHL offers a list of three games.

My NFL breakthroughs were supposed to start today, but I’m falling behind. WILL START tomorrow.

Ness Notes is available Monday through Friday at 1:00 ET. Saturday and Sunday grades are available at 7:00 ET.
